Welcome to the Big 4 Coconut Palms Caravan Park in Cairns, the only 5 star caravan park in the state and heaven to those kids fortunate enough to stay here. The staff answer the phone by saying
"we're havin' a great day at the Coconut Palms Caravan Park, how can I help you?". Ah yes its action a plenty here and the kids wasted no time this morning in soaking it up. I digress, it was an important day in our family's history as Maxie learnt to ride his bike without training wheels. They are officially off and so is he. And he's going great guns. It also clicked with Miss Scarlett late yesterday afternoon while she was riding Maxie's bike, but after a very "minor" stack this morning on her own bike she had a meltdown and is refusing to get back on the bike. Consequently it was off to the playground with Max on his bike, Scarlett on her scooter and Zachie in the pram. On to the pool for a swim, spa, slide, you name it, they've got it and there's multiple to pick from. They have the largest jumping pillow in the southern hemisphere, in fact they have two. The have mini golf, their own waterpark like the one on the foreshore in Townsville, games rooms, bikes, multiple playgrounds, three pools, tennis and basketball courts, bike circuits, you name it. Its a kids paradise and they are having a ball. And if you get bored with all of that, there's the social activities like Bingo, Pancake Thursday, Water Aerobics, movie nights, Bavarian Dancers and on it goes. So today we pretty much hung out at the caravan park. Rick worked and I babysat and played tour guide. We didn't see the Port Hedlands, which makes me think they're all sick now. I hope its not catching. We missed the cheese and bickies from 5PM. It seems the grey nomads had scoffed everything before we got there. But we did do three laps around the park in the Big Red Fire Engine. They kids thought it was fab and I had much fun waving like I was in a wiggles DVD. Home made reef and beef for dinner that was to die for and we are both full and in need of bed. And the kids passed out tonight without a word, bonus.
