Cairns

If there's one thing that this caravan park is famous for it's Pancake Thursday.  The kids woke at 6AM and kept asking every 10 minutes is it time for pancakes?  So finally we headed off to the games room and the pancakes were flowing.  They have been cranking pancakes out on Thursday's for the past 13 years and have it mastered to perfection. Three BBQ's, three experienced cooks, ladies handing out name tags and restocking the tea, coffee and cordial, and there was an endless supply of pancakes and happy customers. No lines because they are so efficient they pump out the pancakes and send you on your way before you can say thank you.  Its free, very social and creates such good karma.  The owner of the park was one of the cooks and happily chatted away.  The kids were suitably impressed but were happy to pull up after two pancakes swimming in maple syrup and sugar, albeit the size of the plate. We waddled home feeling very content.  It was raining and quite bleak so we took the opportunity to spend it in doors at Cairns Central and at the movies.  A couple of hours of shopping in the morning and that was more than enough for Rick.  I could have stayed all day but was near suicidal with three kids in tow. Myers was average but at least it was there and I savoured every minute.  Oh how I miss David Jones. It was off to KungFu Fighting II while Rick headed out to Jaycar and boy shops to recover.  By 4PM I was in pain, kid pain and back pain from carrying Zachie.  Rick kindly made tacos for dinner and the kids were in bed early to preserve our sanity. And we followed shortly thereafter.
