Airlie Beach Whitsundays

Well the weather really turned it on for us today. The sun was shining and it was hot, burning hot.  You could feel your skin sizzling again. So the kids were up early and into it, that is, hanging out with the neighbour after they'd left a trail of orange juice and rocky road through the caravan.  Another young family from Melbourne are doing a month long trip through QLD and have pulled up across from us.  So Maxie and their boy Tom were on the scooters and bikes before 8AM.  More washing, in fact another 4 loads.  I am so sick of washing. And then we headed off to Proserpine, a small town about 30km up the road.  A quaint town with 4 pubs in the main street. I think there were more pubs than anything else actually.  Dodgy pies for lunch, a walk through the main street and we were done. So we headed off to Cedar Creek Falls, waterfalls that were pretty but uneventful.  Max and Scarlett were hopeful of spotting a crocodile but no such luck.  We've been told that the river at Proserpine has the highest number of crocs in QLD.  We didn't see any. On to sight see at a couple of beaches down the road and it was time to head into Airlie for a swim in the Lagoon.  They've done a fantastic job of building pools with rocks and sandy areas on the foreshore. All free and right in front of the most stunning view of the islands.  The kids had a swim while I curled up inside Zachie's Toy Story 3 Cubby house in a lame effort to get out of the sun. Dinner at Hogs Breath.  So not my cup of tea, but kids eat free on Monday and Tuesdays and Rick was keen for a steak.  Home early and hopefully to bed early.
