Airlie Beach Whitsundays
A little chilly today but the rain has gone. So we relocated to the "Big 4, big prices" and settled in for three nights. I have to say, you can't fault the place. As far as parks go, this one sits head and shoulders above the rest in terms of its facilities, but boy do they slog you for it. So we are surrounded by fancy caravans and fancy cars. It could be a Landcruiser and Jayco convention. Anyway it was a pretty slow day as we didn't leave the other park gas bagging to other families also doing the extended holiday thing. Funny how we've had none and now suddenly three families in the one park. The afternoon was spent unpacking, playing in the playground and on the jumping pillow, and scootering with other kids. We also skyped Nanna and mum and dad at home which was lovely for them to see the kids digging for dinosaur bones in lump of hard clay. They were amused for hours and had a ball. Rick took a drive to Bunnings, so I reluctantly took the kids across to the pool for a dip. Brrrr, it was freezing. Scarlett was first in as usual and could swim across to the water slide. She had a ball but struggled with the cold. Her teeth were chattering continuously for the next hour. Maxie was less keen and took some coaxing. Finally Rick came home and I said I'd take him in to help him swim across to the slide. I think it was the coldest water I've ever been in. One go and he was scared out of his mind, freezing and near sobbing. He was over it and headed for the caravan. He hasn't mentioned the pool since. Zachie of course went into melt down when he had to get out. I guess he doesn't feel the cold with that extra layer of love. Pasta for dinner and some socialising with neighbours. We met a group of over indulgent oldies from Melbourne. They'd set up camp before lunch two caravans down. An afternoon of eating and drinking rolled into an evening of frolicking. It reminded me very much of our parents and made me homesick for the grandparents. We miss you. Hurry up and get better mum so you can come to Cairns.
